I feel like such a retard. I cannot get the 2X bass pedal versions to store in my library with the single kicks. I followed your steps and just cant get it to work. I changed the first line and the 5th line and it doesnt work. Here is the example:

(MasterofPuppets2xbass
(name "Master of Puppets (2X Bass Pedal)")
(artist "Metallica")
(master TRUE)
(song_id MasterofPuppets2xbass)
(song
(name "songs/MasterOfPuppets/MasterOfPuppets")
(tracks
((drum (0 1 2 3 4 5))
(bass (6 7))
(guitar (8 9))
(vocals (10 11))
(keys ())

Does parenthesis matter? I got the 2x bass pedal to show up in the library somehow but the album art was blank white and the song wouldnt play. Please help. >:(

That behaviour indicates that the required files aren't in the package.

What's in the 2x Bass CON that you have, file and structure-wise?

I was possible using quotation marks and parenthesis which was messing it up but I got it to work. Thanks

Make sure that after changing the songs.dta in the songs, you delete your cache before adding it back into the game again. I Made changes to my own files I had, but it won't reflect in game unless I delete the cache cause it already has that song saved. It looks like to me that you did everything like I Did. And no dont add parenthesis, just type where the text is.

Also with the structure. Yeah when you download the CON and open lefluffie. In the songs u should see the dat file and then the MID and MOGG and stuff. But you only extra the DTA file and change that, save it, and then go back into LeFluffie and right click the songs.dta and hit replace file, and select the saved new DTA file in your computer wherever u saved the extracted one. Then hit sign and rebuild and put that con in your flash drive. It should work but make sure u delete your cache first maybe

I did delete the cache and it still wont add the song to the library. That shouldnt matter though because the 2X bass pedal version is treated as a brand new song being added to the library. Oh well, I'll try again later. Thanks

OK let me know.

On another note, Here is a fix that I know some people want. I uploaded a version of Papa Roach's "Last Resort" with the CD version as the backing track. It isn't multitrack because it's a different recording obviously. But everything else about the gameplay should be the same. If there's any issues anyone encounters let me know. link here and on the front page.

Maybe had something to do with adding quotations or parenthesis on the first and 5th line of the DTA file. I pretty much just copy and pasted whatever you made for the song ID onto the first line. Making up my own song nomenclature didnt seem to work.

Things that I have discovered that can cause a song to not show despite changing a song_id:

* Conflict with an existing song_id.
* Changing the song_id but not touching the 'short name' at the start of the songs.dta entry.
* Incorrectly changing the path/filename in the 'song' section
* Two songs having the same track number (running into this a LOT when recording isolated audio)
* Not changing the filename when keeping the song cache

Why do you have Far Away under the artist "Video Games"? The person playing song is named José González and was popular even before making the song for Red Dead with him being most famous for his cover of The Knife's Heartbeats and has a UK platinum album because of it. I thank you for making the song into a custom, but using the artist name of "Video Games" is just lazy considering it would have taken you 5 seconds worth of time to find the actual artist name.

I know who the original artist is trust me. If you would read the beginning part of the post on the first page where all the text is, where it clearly says "Sorting" I mention CLEARLY that I plan on doing A LOT of video game themes. So If I wanna play Far Away, The Zelda Theme, Silent Hill 3 Theme, and the Metal Gear Solid theme, I simply go to the "Video Game" artist and BAM there they all are, instead of going from artist to artist trying to find them all. If it bothers you that much, fix it in LeFluffie, it's very simple to do if you did the research on how. I'll even private message you on how to fix it if you want, but AGAIN my methods are CLEARLY mentioned in the front post which you chose not to read.

The problem is that there's no precedence for naming the songs this way, take the Super Meat Boy songs for example, are they listed under Super Meat Boy or Videogames, no they're listed under the artist that made the song dB Soundworks. Imagine if the song was released in the actual Rock Band store would the artist want to be listed under Videogames with their name showing up nowhere in terms of the releases or under the name that the music was released under, as in the case of Far Away Jose Gonzalez is listed in the artist column, not Red Dead Redemption. Again I thank you for taking your time to author the track, but your sorting method is all screwy with iffy logic.

His logic is that he's prepping them for his own enjoyment and convenience, and sharing his work with others. If it was being released in the actual store, for dollarbucks, then yes, it absolutely should and would be listed that way, but it's not, and he's elected not to.There is a quick fix option out there for people who want proper, up-to-code sorting, and I encourage anyone who'd like to do it that way to go for it.

I know we've had a similar discussion on our end, especially as it pertains to the most recent release (the Sonic Adventure II track), and while my personal preference is to list it under the artist/composer (for, as you mention, consistency with RBN standards), we're leaving it mostly to the author's discretion (provided they can make a compelling case). In this case, we received one.

Similarly, for the tracks I've released that are by one artist featuring another artist, I moved the (ft. Collaborating Artist) line to the song title so that they would all sort under the same artist heading. Up to Harmonix standard? No. Convenient in my case and justifiable? Sure. Fixable by someone who absolutely wants it up to code? With a small time investment and a few keypresses.

I know, for example, that with my old custom of a Star Control II track, I had a similar internal debate. I intended to author a bunch of Star Control II tracks, and it would be far more convenient to list them all (since the soundtrack was put together by several different mod authors) under one header, but since I'm firmly in #teamrbnstandards, and I do consider this to be a more... egregious... standard violation than the "ft." stuff, I put it under the authors name -- but that was a decision I made for my own work.

Espher pretty much made my point by that I plan on doing a bunch of video game themes for my own enjoyment, but also plan on sharing with everyone else, and for me it's easier to find them all under "Video Game" artist if I wanna play a bunch back to back to back. Again if you want me to tell you how to fix it, PM me and I'll tell you, it's quite simple if you take the time to do it.

Excellent stuff man, glad to see the video game music love this week. I remember playing "You're Not Here" back during the DDR days, which led me to Guitar Hero, which brought me to Rock Band. A little full-circle action for me!

Wow, didn't even know Silent Hill stuff was in DDR.

UPDATE 6/23/13 - Adding another video game related custom to the front page, this one is from the game Final Fantasy VII, "Sephiroth's Theme (Those Chosen by the Planet)" Very dark sounding with the bell tones. This is NOT the song that plays during the final boss battle. That may or may not be coming later ;) check it out here or on the front page
