I finally tried your custom Keys chart. Towards the middle was a much more interesting part and just what I expected from the chart. Also some nice sustain parts. It certainly doesn't feel like a 0-tier chart though.

That tiering was on me. Because the majority of the keys chart was identical to the guitar chart, I just copied the difficulty the guitar part was given by Harmonix. Pro keys could probably be bumped up a tier on account of the shifts in the main riff.

I haven't played the Guitar part myself to see, but when I think of 0-tier Keys, I think of songs with mostly silence and occasional sustains. It's probably more like a 1, just for the mid-sustain parts and sorta-fast parts.

anybody experience the following?

after second to last RBHP update, tried to play Boston's More Than a Feeling = crashed xbox, nothing would respond, had to physically turn it off and back on.

after last RBHP update, yesterday night, tried to play Foo Fighter's The Pretender = same as above, hard crash

then played Paradise by the Dashboard Light, after finishing the song, when exiting back to the set list = same crash as above.

I've hosted events recently and also on Thursdays I help to host a weekly RB3 event with my xbox. it tends to be solid, so these 3 crashes in the span of a couple of weeks from each, where for the last year + i've been solidly stable, are worrying.

nothing's changed in my set up except I keep updating RBHP. the songs in question i've had for a long time without any changes to them.

any ideas?

The most recent batch should all be fine since I recorded videos after the last updates I made to them.

Older tracks, I can't explain -- was More Than a Feeling a one-time crash or repeat occurrence?

happened repeatedly if I tried to play it. it would never launch fine. I removed it from the RBHP batch folder, and then it worked fine. I'll try to find time to narrow it down...but considering how much downtime it creates for me when the Xbox crashes, I might have to stop using RBHP if it turns out it's causing instability.

I'll look at it when I get home tonight.

It's a very popular song, so I'd assume I'd have gotten other complaints if it were causing crashes around the world. You've got the original LIVE file, right? Nothing modified/changed?

More Than a Feeling and The Pretender both received official protar upgrades. Maybe there's a clash?

Oh, that would definitely do it. They won't play nice together. You need to merge the .mids together and use the upgrades.dta from the official pro guitar upgrade.

What version of "Paranoid" was used for the upgrade file in the latest update? For a non-export RB1 track I figure there might be a few versions floating around. Not sure if they would different enough to affect the proper use of the RBHP file.

It should be version neutral, per se.

You need to edit the songs.dta to match whatever version you have where IDs etc. are concerned, and then edit the upgrades.dta to match the songs.dta.

i can't get the harmonies to show up in my game under the right song without showing the song twice(if i'm lucky) with the harmonies having a white album art and no preview...am i doing something wrong? i followed all the instructions for packaging, dragged n dropped into horizon with my usb device plugged up (it has half my rb dlc on it so i know it would show up) yet when i go to choose one the songs that would now have harmonies it just shows a white album art & refuses to let me play the song. i still have the files used to make the package, not sure why none of them work though (a few aren't on my hdd or any usb device because they are from the rb2 export which i do not have)

Here is the super short list of what to do, assuming the files are going in the right places and the TUs are already there:

1. Build dummy and upgrade packages using packager and put them on your USB drive.
2. Unplug hard drive and plug in USB drive.
3. Boot game and build cache.
4. Power off Xbox and plug in hard drive.
5. Boot game and build cache.
6. Exit to System Settings and delete the dummy file from the USB drive (keeping the upgrades file).
7. Boot the game and play.

Based on the behaviour you're describing, step six is getting missed.

Hi folks, this week we're bringing a fairly tangible, vaguely holiday-themed upgrade into the mix, to celebrate your silly little violence fueled departure from the glorious British Empire that would birth the illustrious Commonwealth.

Also, GreenPanda12 starts authoring harmonies. Please give him a round of applause!

* PROGB: Oasis - “Wonderwall” (xEpiDeMiiKxx) - Fixed a typo in the upgrades.dta file which caused a crash.
* LRB: Rascall Flatts - “Life is a Highway” (espher) - Changed HARM2/3 placement in a phrase due to a Triple Awesome issue.

Whew.

This is a really great release week. I've wanted Move Along since I heard about the project. Now all that's missing is its short piano solo. And great to hear about a new contributor. Hopefully this means more frequent releases.

Probably still on a three week rotation. Maybe twos if I get a large number of contribs, but three prevents me from burning out. I mean since I've started this project I've barely played any games, Borderlands 2 and the MMO I'm playing occasionally being the only exceptions. A three week schedule might mean that if I get done ahead of schedule I can pre-prep the next one and maybe end up with a weekend free to PLAY games.

Yes, this is a totally self-serving motive.

Interesting. I had one done already that had (accidentally) gone out in one of the releases, but I hadn't reviewed it, so the quality probably sucked. :P

Throw it my way -- it'll probably go out with the Sept release.

I've searched around for an answer and I've tried a few different ways people have said to get this working, but my system keeps freezing.

I get everything on a usb, load it up - no hard drive. I see white boxes, harmonies visible. I put the hard drive back, boot game. Again, white boxes, harmonies visible. I delete dummy files, reboot game. Song plays, shows harmonies, select song to play, loading visuals... game freezes.

Where am I going wrong?
