Apologies if this is the incorrect thread to post, however, i did see a patch note regarding the use of ng_id.txt, which is the problem I am facing now. I am currently modding the wii to play rock band customs. I am unable to determine where to find a .bin file to use to extract the ng_id.txt. Is there a sample somewhere that I need to download?

I'd point you to the Wii thread in the Customs Troubleshooting topic but I see you've already found it.

So I'm having trouble opening RBtoUSB. The window doesn't seem to show up when I click on it but the application shows me that it's loaded. I've tried using a older version to counteract the problem but the same thing is happening. Any clue as to why this is happening?

Have you tried just running C3 CON Tools and clicking on the RBtoUSB button? What happens?

Yes to both. The application loads up on my start bar but the window doesn't show up when I click on it.

When you say you've tried redownloading, are you putting the new files in the same old installation folder (i.e. still using the same config settings?). Try a new download to your desktop, extract there, and just run from there so it's not using any custom configuration settings. What happens?

That did the trick. I did what you mentioned before so that's probably why it was being weird.

Thanks again.

Hi all.

Apologies if this has been addressed before but I didn't find any ways to fix what I'm encountering. Some customs I'd like to edit the info for (names are not right, artist, year, etc) in the DTA Editor. What I'm confused on is why some files are able to be edited and others aren't. The ones that aren't give a "There was a problem accessing that file. Access to the path <file> is denied." I thought it was a Windows permissions issues, but I'm getting both results from files in the same folder. Is there something I'm missing?

The file may be opened for editing by another program, or antivirus could be interfering. Process Explorer is a good program to use to check for this sort of thing.

Weird bug I noticed...

If the folder name has a # in it the application will not start.

My folder was:

C:\#C3\C3CONToolsv400

Only if someone ever port it to ios, which seems unlikely at this point. Your best bet is either a Windows emulator or a Windows VM, or if you want the real deal, dual-boot.

I guess this is worth documenting even if really minor bug.

When choosing a preview lenght for a Wii conversion, the converter does not modify the DTA file to fix the preview lenght, causing silence after the preview if you choose less than 30seconds preview in the converter.

Just in case, the value to change in the DTA file is 'preview', data format is ('preview' 3918 8017) where 3918 means start at 3.918 seconds and 8017 stop at 8.017 seconds.

To avoid the bug, you can use the DTA quick editor to change the value to whatever you want before converting to wii, or you can always manually edit it after from the Wii files.

It's not designed to work through Mono. It probably is not something that can be fixed short of re-writing the entire code.

The home screen for the tools is not compatible with Wine. User SuperRiderTH made a shell script though to run the individual modules and bypass the main screen.

It does mean you can't use the drag-and-drop feature on the main page, but you can get everything else.

Is there any guide / tools, or available sources from C3CONTools, about parsing a RockBand file?

I created a script to convert PhaseShift midi into standard midi and I would like to do the same with RockBand format. Using C3CONTools is not convenient for me.

I created a tool for what was convenient for me and others at the time. No tutorial or guide on how to parse the files. However, I made the source code available. You can look at that and figure out how it's done.

Hi TrojanNemo,

Been using your tool for YEARS (so thanks for your efforts and hard work), and im just getting around to fixing and tyding up my RB3 customs USB drive.. as im playing with my family again and id like to ensure the Song Ratings are proper since we have lots of little ones that sometimes are there.

I'd like to know if you could please add a Batch Rating Changer feature that lets us set either 1(FF) 2(SR) 3(M) or 4(Unrated) like the Quick DTA editor does? That would allow us to batch change ratings to songs we drag and drop to it, kind of like the Batch CON Renamer (my favorite tool btw, love it!).

It would otherwise take me many hours to edit the rating of those 330 songs manually. I kinda wish customs had a rule where you HAD to rate them to submit them, lol

Thanks for reading,

EDIT again: I also noticed that some normal songs that aren't customs aren't rated either, would you be able to also please, add a Batch Rating change feature to them through the Song Cache, using the Setlist manager tool? I know there's a rating edit feature there but its not a batch-level feature. :)
