Alright, it looks like the boat is a stable enough for us to start looking for outside playtesters. If I can be completely frank, we don't want to have too large a pool of playtesters, so we'll be seeking very informal applications from parties who may be interested in playtesting and making selections based on what gives us a diverse pool of testers covering a range of instruments and difficulties.

Here is a short list of our expectations from playtesters:
* A reasonably high activity level. You need to be active. We may not have a large, large volume of songs hitting playtest every given week, but in the event we do (especially with contributions), we want to make sure they're all tested. I don't want to put a fixed minimum number, but don't offer to playtest if you're in a situation like me right now where you might maybe have two hours smoe night to maybe test a chart.
* Instrument proficiency. Be honest about what you can and cannot play and the level at which you can play it. We are going to want testers that cover a range of difficulties and instruments, so don't be afraid if you can only play up to medium -- we need someone who is a medium guru to be able to give us feedback on the reductions.
* Flexibility. Some charting decisions are author decisions. You need to be willing to make a solid case for changes you are requesting, but also willing to accept an author's decision on something subjective as final.
* Good communication skills. You need to be able to articulate your thoughts clearly. You need to be able to accurately identify problems (and their relative positions within a song) to give the author enough feedback to correct them. You need to be able to pick and choose the appropriate tone for discourse (hint: being hostile all day erry day is probably not a good plan). pksage gave a good series of guidelines in the C3 Release Feedback forum -- please look them over and see if you can deliver on them.
* Familiarity with RBN standards. In some cases, our charts may deviate from those standards, but we would expect people to have an idea as to what charts should and should not look like, and having familarity with charting songs or the standards may help to give more concrete feedback. If you're not well versed in RBN standards, please indicate your willingness to look over the docs and try to learn. :)
* Ability to keep a secret. Obviously we don't have eleventy million megabucks riding on this, but we want to keep some of the hush hush, "what's coming next" thing Harmonix had going on. If you're playtesting for us, you will be expected to not tell the whole world about what you're playtesting. Doing so will likely result in your removal from the playtesting program, and perhaps more.

If you are interested in applying as a playtester, please send an e-mail to rockbandharmoniesproject at gmail.com (I'm handling the applications for now just to make sure they end up all in one place) with the information listed beneath this paragraph. If you are accepted into the program, you will receive a response and will be able to access our playtesting forum. If you do not receive a response, it does not mean I hate you, and it does not mean you won't ever be a playtester -- we may have just reached our desired capacity for the categories in which you are interested in testing (we don't need 6,000 x guitar testers, for example).

About You
Forum names (here and at other RB community sites, if applicable)
Country/time zone (just to give me an idea of where our distribution is for helping to establish deadlines/timelines)
Brief summary of playtesting/beta testing background, if applicable

Playtesting Information/Preferences
Instruments and difficulties you are willing and able to test (please denote languages spoken if you are interested in vocals testing)
Instruments and difficulties you would prefer to test
Genre preferences
Number of charts you expect you can test in a given week
Charting experience + familarity with Reaper/Magma/other RBN or customs tools

Do not reply to this thread with this information. Fire it off in an e-mail. I may go through past e-mails received and/or PMs and/or posts to try and solicit people, but the fastest way to get my attention is to drop me a message in this format.

Thanks for your interest and support. :)

Think we've got all we need for right now. I may come knocking for specific ability/skillsets or if we have a hole to fill.

For example, we are looking for someone capable of doing high level pro keys testing, preferably someone with knowledge of authoring or proper musicianship to assist with authoring.

Thanks, folks!

Hi folks, looks like we're looking to open this back up again for now, owing in part due to us heading into the summer (which, for some people, means increased availability, and for others, means increased-spending-time-away-from-a-computer/TV). :)

We're looking to focus on testers that satisfying some or all of the following criteria, but will entertain all comers:

* Experience with RBN charting standards (and Reaper, ideally).
* Keys/musical proficiency (or at least a great ear for tone), especially to help polish pro keys charts.
* Pro guitar/bass players.

We are also looking for testers from a diverse range of musical tastes to ensure that songs of all genres get sufficient playtesting. If you are interested, please drop me an e-mail at the address listed in the OP (it's easier for me to inventory/track than PMs).
