Not sure if this is a good place to post this or not but I was getting kind of bored with the RBN Preview BG in Reaper so I changed it.

Posted Image

If anyone else perhaps would like this as well:
C:\Program Files (x86)\REAPER\Plugins\FX\rbprev

Replace RBN_background1.png with this one. Save the original png somewhere or rename it if you want to switch back at some point.

On the topic of custom preview backgrounds, I also made a C3 one as well to replace the old RBN1 style.

Hi, I'm brand new to customs, and I'm not sure where to install the w1limiter plugins... Any help?

Updated OP:
- Updated CustomTools.zip so the template is named "C3 Custom RB3 Template" instead of "Custom RB3 Template". No big deal.
- Updated REAPER link to indicate 4.22 should be used.
- Added links to C3 CON Tools and CAT.

I cannot seem to figure out how to install the templates. The instructions say to drop the files in the ProjectTemplates folder, but I cannot seem to find said folder anywhere. And I tried creating that folder under ProgramFiles(x86)>REAPER, but that did not do the trick.

To see where REAPER stores its templates, select File / Project template / Save project as template.

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\REAPER

That's where it's always gone for me. The AppData folder is a hidden folder, so you'll either need to enable viewing of hidden folders, or manually type the path in in the explorer bar.

Thanks for both of the above replies. I now got it working.
However, I now have a new issue. When I open the C3 Customs RB3 Template, it tells me I'm missing the W1 Limiter plugin even though I already copy and pasted it into the Plugins folder (Program Files x86>REAPER>Plugins).
I used the x32 version even though I'm using Windows x64, simply because I'm using the x32 of Reaper (due to recommendations to avoid problems). Could this be the reason I'm getting the error message? Or what?

EDIT: I also keep getting the "missing file" message saying that I do not D:\c3\customs\hihat.wav
Where can I find this file or fix this issue, assuming this is the reason count-ins do not work for me in new projects.

Firstly, yes. You should use the x32 bit REAPER even if you have a x64 system.

Next:

Inside the Plugin's Folder, there is another folder FX. Move another copy of the limiter in there. I'm pretty sure one set of instructions tells you only to move it into Plugins, and another set tells you FX. I've always just done both to be sure and I've never had a problem. Try that.

Updated OP CustomTools.zip to include stick.wav and hihat.wav. Right-click on the count-ins and Choose New File, and then save the template, or you'll have to redo this every time you start a new custom.

There's nothing sacred about these files - they're generic sounds that you were meant to get on your own. Ideally, you might be able to isolate a good count-in sound from the song you're authoring. If not, fall back on one of these.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting my questions... But I just watched the entire, extremely helpful, pksage Reaper tutorial, but I have a couple of questions that were not covered.
How do you export your final project? "Export Project MIDI", correct? Well, after that, what settings/checkboxes do we stick to? Do you Embed tempo map, and you do make it a multitrack MIDI file even if you're using a single-layered MP3, correct?
Also, if I were to try to chart drums only, would I delete the placement notes on EMH in guitar and bass in order to have the instruments show up as "no part"?

All correct.

Not quite. Just mute the parts you haven't charted before you do the MIDI export.

Thank you. The only thing that still isn't quite clear is the tempo map option. You're saying DO embed it, right?

Always. If you don't embed the tempo map, you'll see it slowly drift out of sync as you play the song.
