I am positive this has been addressed elsewhere but clearly my search mojo is failing terribly because I've not found it.

So I downloaded some CON files and some of them have incorrect artist info, broadly speaking in the following categories:

(1) some cases they are labeled as "made famous by" but are in fact the master recordings by the original artist

(2) some spell the artist name differently (especially when there is punctuation in the artist name) so they are placed separately from the rest of the artist's work

(3) some just have missing album or track number info.

I assumed I could just open up the errant CON files in C3 CON Tools and something would help me fix this "metadata" but I saw no tool for this.  So I fired up Magma... but importing a CON file into Magma just gave me a "no DTA file found" error.

Sooooo... how can I fix this?  Do I need to actually unpack the whole thing and put it all back together somehow?  That's a fair amount of work to change the placement of a period in an artist name, but if that's the only way...

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Use Quick DTA Editor. If that doesn't work, then the custom is probably broken.

Thanks...!  I guess I thought there was a GUI-based editor, but this allowed me to fix many of them (a couple were indeed broken, including the one I tested in Magma).

I started working on a GUI based DTA editor but gave up shortly into it. Just would have been too tedious for something rarely used.
