Ungrateful Dead's Thread Of Half Finished Garbage

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I hear having wip threads is all the rage and this one is mine because I like nice things.

Generally speaking I search to make sure that I don't end up hogging someone else's claim to hot riffs, but in case I overlook something you see here that you're working on, be sure to drop me a line and I can either remove it, or if you're interested, we can collaborate.

Hey guys been a hot minute since I last had the chance to chart. Doing some quick spring cleaning of this thread by removing a few claims I don't think I'll get around to finishing anytime soon and adding up a few songs I'm working on right now. They are as follows:

Pixies - Ana

Pixies - All I Think About Now

Pixies - Something Against You

Hopefully I should have this next batch of songs ready to release soon, but changes in my living situation has made it difficult for me to record dry vox, so we'll see how that goes.

Updated, Pixies songs released and removed from list.

Queens of the Stone Age - Feet Don't Fail Me moved up from unstarted to currently working.

Four additional QOTSA songs added to my list and added to the currently working queue:

Queens of the Stone Age - Leg of Lamb

Queens of the Stone Age - I'm Designer

Queens of the Stone Age - If Only

Queens of the Stone Age - Mosquito Song

Updating this thread; took a small break after Queens deciding what I wanted to work on next, and I've decided I want to focus on finishing up Death From Above 1979's sophomore album The Physical World.

The Full Listing of the Album is Below

-Death From Above 1979 - Cheap Talk

-Death From Above 1979 - Right On, Frankenstein [1]

-Death From Above 1979 - Virgins

-Death From Above 1979 - Always On

-Death From Above 1979 - Crystal Ball

-Death From Above 1979 - White is Red

-Death From Above 1979 - Trainwreck 1979 [2]

-Death From Above 1979 - Nothin' Left

-Death From Above 1979 - Government Trash

-Death From Above 1979 - Gemini

-Death From Above 1979 - The Physical World

[1] - I previously completed a chart for Right On, Frankenstein that has already been ported to the database by TheOreo. I will be reviewing this chart and if needed will reach out to them in regards to updating or replacing the chart currently in the database

[2] - Trainwreck 1979 is official DLC for Rock Band 4. For obvious reasons I will be skipping over this one.

While Death From Above 1979 is simpler to chart than a typical full band pack, by nature of primarily only featuring drums, bass, and vocals, its still a pretty sizable pack so I'll be picking away with this over the course of the next month or so. Stay tuned.

Hello everyone, finally getting around to deciding what I wanted to do now that I've wrapped up the DFA1979 album.

Every so often I get an irresistible urge to create a fake Rock Band setlist using songs that aren't already DLC / customs and just go to town. So for the last two weeks I tempo-mapped and charted guitar for something like uh... 70ish or so songs? And plan to gradually upgrade them to full band for release.

I plan to work on them in batches of three, so I'll be starting with these:

Pixies - Motorway to Roswell

Modest Mouse - Fire It Up

Deerhunter - Never Stops

And then once I'm done with that I'll be moving onto assorted selections from the following list.

Aerosmith - Angel

Alice in Chains - Godsmack

Antemasque - 4AM

Anthrax - Antisocial

Atlas Genius - Trojans

Bad Company - Silver, Blue & Gold

Beastie Boys - Pass The Mic

Beck - Novacane

Big Black - Kerosene

Big Data - Dangerous

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Spread Your Love

Black Sabbath - End of the Beginning

Blondie - Sunday Girl

Blur - Chinese Bombs

Broken Bells - The High Road

Butthole Surfers - Dracula From Houston

CAKE - Sick of You

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Sinister Purpose

cults - I Took Your Picture

Dead Kennedys - Let's Lynch the Landlord

Dead Sara - Weatherman

Deafhaven - Honeycomb

Deep Purple - Stormbringer

Depeche Mode - I Feel You

Electric Light Orchestra - Roll Over Beethoven

Faith No More - Land of Sunshine

Feist - 1234

Franz Ferdinand - The Fallen

Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes

Iggy & The Stooges - Gimme Danger

Jarvis Cocker - Angela

Judas Priest - Turbo Lover

Kyuss - Green Machine

LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean

Miike Snow - Song For No One

New Order - The Perfect Kiss

Portugal. The Man - Creep in a T-Shirt

Queens of the Stone Age - In The Fade

Red Fang - Wires

Sleater-Kinney - I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone

Social Distortion - So Far Away

Soul Coughing - Circles

T. Rex - Mambo Sun

They Might Be Giants - Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head

Tom Waits - Jockey Full of Bourbon

Turbonegro - All My Friends Are Dead

Two Door Cinema Club - Sun

Wolf Alice - Giant Peach

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero

I've checked to make sure these songs are currently unclaimed in the WIP threads, but due to the bulk of the list its possible I overlooked one or two, so if you are or have had any interest in working on any of the above songs let me know and I can 1) pull them from my list and 2) possibly send you what I have done so far to help you along with your own WIP.

Hey everybody, checking in with a quick update.

As you know we're slowly approaching the end of the nearly year long project, with only a few weeks left before we reach the final release. I'd like to take a moment just to outline the release dates for the remaining songs.

10/30/20 - Faith No More, The Stooges, Tom Waits

11/13/20 - Alice in Chains, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Deafheaven, T. Rex, Black Sabbath

You might note that Bad Company and Big Black are not included on the list. That's because both songs in the long run had issues where I could not accurately chart a major portion of the song as a result of mixing / lack of good reference material. To be frank, the Big Black song was also just not fun to play in testing. So apologies to anyone looking forward to these songs.

Including the mid season, addition of Justice's Planisphere that brings us to 65 full releases. Not a bad number to end on for a "full game" set list. Certainly comparable with RB1 and RB4.

Except I'm entirely full of shit and there was actually 18 more songs all along.

Including the aforementioned 65 songs thats 83 songs total. Not a bad sum if I can toot my own horn. As for which songs from the aforementioned artists will be featured in the pack... well you're just going to have to speculate for now. See ya'll in a few weeks for the full reveal.

T. Rex you say? Is it a particular song that is getting a long anticipated original version custom????

Mmm... I used to think the BIG missing one is "Get It On", but I don't think there is ANY version around, or is there?

Edit: only noticed your previous post just now. There was a non-original version of it? Was it official or custom?

Quick update, in the review process for the twenty something songs I'll be releasing this month and I noticed, boy howdy that sure is an Aerosmith song that's already in Rock Band 4, huh. I'm very good at Using The Google, as you can see.

As such I'm moving around the release schedule a bit. Instead of having three releases on the 13th and three more on the 27th, I'm pulling the Aerosmith release and combining the two releases into one, so you'll also be getting the Black Sabbath and T. Rex songs next Friday.

This means I also will be pushing up the release date of the 18 pack to the 27th, and will be revealing the full song list on the 13th, rather than the 27th. See you all then.

Hey everybody it's Friday. Hope you liked this week release, but I don't have time to talk about that because I got all these *songs* I gotta tell you about. There's a whole lot of them (and maybe you've even heard of some of them!)

This week, I'll be showcasing six of the songs that will be coming up on the 27th. Be sure to click on each to get a preview of the chart in action.

Consolation Prizes is a single off of Phoenix's third album, a beloved pop hit backed by alrger than life guitar chords and a thick bassline.

Cream on Chrome is a milestone dance hit released in 2015 by Ratatat, an instrumental electric rock duo. It features an absolutely infectious bass line and a killer guitar section, alternating between a downtempo swagger and full blown electric solos.

Curse the Weather is the second track off of Royal Tusks's first album, Dealbreaker; which you would be forgiven for missing. Easily one of my favorite songs in the upcoming pack to play in game; the fill heavy drum sections backed by a full assault bass riff are definitely the stars of this song, but the guitar also gets plenty of time in the sun with its chord heavy riffing and a killer solo.

Never Fight a Man With a Perm is a single off of IDLES hugely critically successful sophomore album Joy as an Act of Resistance. Clever lyrics and a relentlessly aggressive drum beat matched by pounding guitar and bass riffs make it a stand out intermediate track in any rock band library.

The Mule is a hidden gem off noise punk band METZ's self-titled first album. The pulsing violent rhythm of the bass accompanied by the whining of guitars and the strained screams of vocalist Alex Edkins propel the momentum of this track. A real headbanger.

Throwin' Shapes is a fan-favorite from math rock band Minus the Bear. A warm upbeat song with some good guitar fiddling and a killer synth suite breakdown.

I hope everything finds something in this pack to enjoy. I'll see you all again next week with more chart previews and that good good content you crave.
