So....I am learning the ropes with all these fantastic tools here and I feel I am going to be charting more than just the one song I started with in another thread. In fact, I am currently working on many different ones. Figured I would start this thread instead of doing a separate post for each song.

My process so far has been like this....
After I feel I have a good tempo map (IMPORTANT!) I chart the drums by hand. I do it all by sound first, then if a midi does exist I use that for reference. Call me crazy but I enjoy it this part of it =)
Trying to do vocals by hand was tough at first, but I think I am getting the hang of it (prolly gonna suck lol). Not sure about the DRYVOX thing. My mic sounds like I'm talking through a pillow for some reason. Gonna have to find a way around this somehow.
I will do bass and guitar if a good midi falls in my lap but I am really not interested in doing those by hand. I'm all for it if someone wants to collaborate. If I have multitracks, I'll do both guitar and bass (which is what I am doing with a few songs).
Testing process has been interesting. Tweaking the overdrive and things took some learning but I hope I have it down now. Watching others test your stuff is quite satisfying!
Cant stress enough the importance of that tempo map!
For the drums I am reducing the level of difficulty by hand, but for bass I am using CAT in Reaper.
I find that working on just one custom at a time is ok for a few days, then I seem to go batshit crazy by hearing the same song repeatedly so I have to switch it up.
I will update the thread again when I am able to report something significant.
Thanks for reading!
