Is there anywhere to ask for full album requests? Trying to see if someone can do all 4 Steel Panther studio albums. I know nothing about making them so I figured I'd ask. Found 6 or so songs but would love to have them all if possible.

Common sense should answer your question.

Jeez, why so dismissive? Just because YOU think no one's gonna do it doesn't make it a dumb request.

Always start small on here. Try requesting a few songs from each album? If those get done and there's high demand maybe the authors will take in more request from SP :)

Just a friendly suggestion :)

I'm not OP but thank you for at least being helpful. I wish more people here were more welcoming to newcomers like you are, instead of just giving snarky replies to everything

I thought that was one of TrojanNemo's nicer more thoughtful replies  :)  This person was able to find the Song Requests forum. If there was such a thing as an album requests forum it would be common sense that it would be near it.

Ws54 knows what's up.

If I were truly being dismissive I would have rejected the post in the first place, rather than approve it to go live so you all could comment on it...

I'm just saying if I were new here I would take that as a bit rude, not thoughtful. Not everyone knows how this site works right off the bat. I think this question, out of many beginner questions, at least deserved a clearer answer

To be fair, lurking before posting is a lost art these days.

i mean there's a stickied post with a title that begins with an all-caps "READ FIRST: " at the top of this subforum that answers it pretty clearly

Remember how the requests work: you are suggesting something you think would be fun to have in the game, and if someone sees your post and agrees, they might think about potentially adding it to their list of things to chart. Now, also remember that customs takes a lot of time and effort, and a single song usually takes 20-40 hours to complete.

Therefor, the chances of someone taking up a request to chart a full album is very close to zero, and you might set yourself up to disappointment by doing that.

Check out my thread for full band, all difficulties customs from a variety of artists and genres!

i think that indie band pink floyd really messed up when they didntmake that whole song money just the cash register sounds
pink floyd's "the wall" is an entire concept album about a man who needs no education because his dream is simply to build a lovely big wall

What makes it dumb and disrespectful of the people who give up their free time to moderate the forums is that full albums are addressed in the rules of the Requests subforum. If anyone cannot be bothered to read the rules, the best they're gonna get is dismissive. Ask any forum that ever existed.

From the rule:

I have seen a increase in people requesting full albums lately, and I would like to comment on that. We are not mad and you are not breaking any rules or anything, but I would like to say that you are doing yourself a disservice by requesting full albums.

It's not really a rule, just advice. It doesn't say full album requests are disallowed, just not recommended (understandably so). I get that mods can have their own opinions, but I don't see how this kind of request is disrespectful.

If it wasn't allowed, the thread would have been closed and the OP warned. OP is asking where to request full albums when in the rules we address specifically full albums and we discourage that. So, it's not the best way to go to ask how or where to request something we specifically ask not to request because it doesn't lead anywhere. I can see some user saying "Sorry for requesting something I know won't get done and takes a ton of time but I truly believe <album name> by <artist> would be incredible in Rock Band. Here's to hoping!". But "Hey, where do I request 4 full albums, dawgs?" is another matter.

Again, allowed, hence no closing of the thread. And I characterized it as "dumb" only to reprise what you said, I don't think it's actually dumb but it's not the best move ever.

You're right. But it's not a good idea to put down a new member for not following that "rule", compared to other more important and obvious rules, if you're trying to present a welcoming community environment. My main issue was with Nemo's attitude. "Dismissive" was probably the wrong word, but it was unnecessary and disrespectful, in my opinion.

Unnecessary? Hardly. Disrespectful? Not applicable - I don't owe you any respect. You come into our house, you follow our rules. Part of coming in here is learning to live with the resident attitudes. Mine is an acquired taste. I sure as heck am not going to change for you or some other newcomer. You, however, have the advantage of reading all that's been posted before you make your first post. You chose not to do that. That already disappoints us, because the first thing you're saying to our community, whether or not you intended it to be that way, is that you don't care about our rules and you can't be bothered to spend the minimum amount of time researching before you post something.

Again, I'm not OP, and I agree that they should've read the rules before posting. But since full-album requests are only discouraged in the rules, I don't see a reason to be so hard on someone for making a full-album request. It sure doesn't seem inviting to that person to stay in the community. If that's how you want to present your website, that's up to you. I'm not gonna tell you to change your attitude. I just don't think you're encouraging any new members to join the community, if you can't forgive small mistakes like this.
