Do you have to reset the cache if you are adding a song to an already processed pak?

Or can you  just add said song and recompile the bin files?

I believe so. As far as I know/recall, the 'name' in the songs.dta is what matters. So long as that 'name', like...

   (
      'name'
      "Twist And Shout"
   )

...for example, was in the BIN when it was generated and added to the library during a cache refresh, the Rock Band library will find it. Even if you have it pointing to a song that actually replaced Twist and Shout but uses the name as a reference.

Another question, what would make the game freeze at the song screen.

After you start the game, and hit play song the game freezes.

It worked up until the last pack I loaded, the bin files are not too big (349k & 14.9mb), the generation is correct...what gives

I figured it out, didn't fix it just figured out what was making it freeze.

The latest song I downloaded : America by Simon & Garfunkel.  That's what was making my wii freeze and buzz.

Not sure why.

Hello Everybody,

i have a question. Does somebody have a sZHP Packer? The links are all down.
sZFP and sZGP works fine. But i tried to make a new packer sZHP from the sZGP file just renaming the wad file to sZHP.
I can generate BIN-Files. But the generatet BIN Files dissapear after starting the game. The songs are not available in the game.

Maybe anybody have some advice or the right sZHP DLC Packer File?

Thank you & Best regards

I need your help to make the app files work. I already tried in sZFE and sZGE but is not working... In the game shows that red bar loading, but in the library don't appear. In the NAND folder i have putted these files in title/1005/735a4645/content
There is two files, one is the 00000026.APP and other is tmd.
What should i do?

Truth be told and accepted above all

I have a question about the cache.

I am planning on using sZHE for kid-friendly songs and sZGE for non-kid songs.

Ideally, I want to be able to play the game with friends using both generations, and then also play with my kids using only sZHE so they don't see all the inappropriate songs.

If I put both generations on one SD, and only the kids one on another SD, could I generate a cache for Adult, and then rename that to "aMSTORE.vff" and then regenerate the cache with the other SD card and copy it to a file named "bMSTORE.vff"?

then I could use wiixplorer to rename whichever tracklist I wanted as "MSTORE.vff" before playing.

Hi Atruejedi,

I can´t get on with two customs. :( Hope someone can help me please...

I had "New Kid in Town" from the "Eagles" two years ago. That worked. later I had to delete it due to space problems. Even if the song was completely deleted and the cache is cleared and I completely reload my song list, it still appears in my list with the error. "Add-on content cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory"

If I reload the song (even with a different number or rename the file myself, I still get the same error message "Add-on content cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory" same with "Queen - Innuendo" All other customs from me run smoothly even when I reload or delete. I have a lot of customs.

does anyone have a solution to this? are these songs stored deeper in the wii system? can any values be changed or renamed in the original customs data so that the wii system recognizes them as completely new songs? I'm pretty desperate now.

Thanks very much for any help.

The Wii only stores score data as far as I can tell in system memory, meaning all data related to the song list/song is stored on the SD card and in the cache. Are you sure these files aren't in a different generation on the SD card? If the song list is recognizing them even after a cache reset than some sort of remnant must still be on the SD card.

Scores are saved in the savegame, which is not on the SD card, it's in the Wii NAND.

Song list is saved in the cache, which is also in the NAND.

Savegame you can reach the same way for any game, but the cache you gotta use a NAND explorer software to be able to manage it.

The only thing that is on the SD card is the DLCs/custom songs, nothing else.

The "cannot restore to wii system memory" error could be a number of things.

Bad slot, wrong slot number in the dta file for the files you're using, not having the tickets installed for the generation you're using, etc etc.

In the main "How to wii customs" thread there's a FAQ that lists some of the possible problems for that error.

Hmmmm. Is this about having trouble loading any songs off the SD card at all? If so, If I'm recalling correctly (haven't regularly used my Wii in a while because I've been using Dolphin to test customs), the solution to this is to go into the main Wii system settings. Find the SD card and delete the Rock Band save game blocks. It should generate a new one. I've had to do this a few times. I didn't lose any actual game data. It just needed a refresher, so to speak, because it somehow got corrupted or loaded improperly.

As I said, I haven't done this in a while, so do so at your own risk. I would back up my shiz beforehand. Please report back if you have success!

However, if the rest of your DLC/customs library loads fine but just two songs say they are there but are not actually there... you have the song loaded somewhere in your customs BINs.

I have this problem, too: my Wii still thinks I have a Coheed and Cambria song loaded, but the files were deleted long ago... nonetheless, one of my songs.dta files (no idea which!) contains the data pointing to the old files! Maybe someday I'll figure out which :D

In your case, you probably have the song loaded correctly somewhere but the incorrect, old data is in a different songs.dta.

Hello and thank you for the hard work.  I followed the guide and have gotten to the end step of using the rock band 3 customs manager.  Everything shows up fine at the bottom.  When I hit the build bins button, the process seems to work, but no bin file shows up in the folder.  Any idea what I am doing wrong?  Thank for any help.

Okay, I seem to have it working.  I have 1 of the 4 songs I uploaded able to play.  Working on getting the other 3 going.  Great guide, thank you!
