I try to make my tubes as accurate as possible, but I've finally came across a song that's testing my brain. I'm currently working to add vocals to This Scene is Dead by We Are Scientists, and the way the vocalist sings certain words is causing me a problem when it comes to accurately choosing lyrics. For reference, here's the song, queued up to the lyrics in the first image:

I'm tempted to make "done" into "duh" even though it goes against C3 orthodoxy. As it is now, if it were simply "done", how would I proceed with the syllables after?

The latter lyrics come in at 2:07. I even made "condition" into "con dish uh + hun" because of how he sings it at 2:01... see? "Hun" is clearly not part of a slide, and making it "condition + + + hun" makes no sense.

See the problem? Advice?

C3 official releases followed RBN standards and yes, do split syllables like duh hun instead of done if needed (though the "hun" in "done" is a slide, not 2 separate "huh" "un" notes. Also, to me the first I'm + sounds much shorter than the second one but it might be me). Don't go happy with it to avoid confusing the players but yes, that's the way to go.

Understood :)

Yeah, it should be a slide, but this was when I first started noticing the repeating problem... at that point, I didn't know what to do about it. I'll make it "hun +" now :)

Added another slide to compensate. :)

Roger that! I've done vocals for a good amount of customs at this point and it wasn't a big issue until this song. I'll exercise restraint. Thanks for your response!

Thank you for taking the time to do this properly, it's clear you're doing things the right way and it takes time, so kudos. :)

I've seen HMX songs where they chart the word up to the vowel(s). Then they add that vowel(s) to the second part and finish the word. So done would probably be do- one. The only example I can think of is skydiver but the word that's split is sun it the uh is split multiple times. So su- u- un.

It's gonna read as "one" that way, which is wrong. ;)

Yeah I guess so. Sun split up is hard to get wrong.
