"Hasbro announces global launch of Dropmix scheduled for September

Hasbro announced the September 2017 global launch of DROPMIX, a music mixing
game. Developed in collaboration with video game developer Harmonix Music
Systems, Inc., creators of Rock Band and Dance Central, DROPMIX uses
cutting-edge technology that empowers players to create unique mixes of songs by
playing cards on a game board connected to a mobile app."

Cool?

Lame?

Thoughts.

Video games with real trading cards are such a short-lived niche from what I've observed. I'm not holding my breath for this one.

Right and right, left and left, spin and turn, and a great big smile.

Love the Music or Hate it but don't complain about it . It's FREE !!

I think the real questions is...

Gamestop or Toys 'R' Us?

Agree with naginal
I don't think Harmonix understands that Rock Band is basically what keeps them afloat now lol

TRU, but I don't think anybody shops there anymore.

Amazon/Walmart/Target for all of your toy shopping needs nowadays.

I'm sure Chris Rigopulos, their CFO, knows slightly better than anyone of us what keeps them afloat considering, you know, he has the balance at hand and, you know, we don't.

I'm not sure what to make of this but my days of buying packs of cards and game boards are long, long over.  So it's probably not aimed at me.

No, please don't, so we can continue to exist as a website.

Ouch. They don't tho unless it's Xmas. Or need the Switch or Hatchimals.

Funny enough they made a video several years ago joking about a Rock Band card game. What a day to say now.

I wouldn't be so quick to bash it. It looks like a fun music-oriented board game. I probably won't end up buying it anytime soon (if at all) but I'm sure this would be fun for a lot of people.

Does anyone in that video even still work at Harmonix?

Looks interesting. I'm willing to wait until it is released to judge it.

Ill probably buy it, looks super fun to me.  I cant see too many ppl dropping $100 bucks for it though. Seems like $50-$75 would of been a better price range.

I can only see this game being in the limelight for a month when it comes out and then it will be forgotten like most video games nowadays.  I just really want Rock Band 4 to keep getting updates and for DLC to be more plentiful.

I like the idea, but at the same time, this is sometime I need to really get some hands-on with first BEFORE I consider buying.

And considering the entry price, yeah that's a tall order.

But Chvrches and A Tribe Called Quest....

I dunno, between the VR games and this, I'm fully aware how outside the target demographic I am now.

Maybe wait for a significant price drop. Or 6-8 months. Whichever comes first.

100$ is about 93 euros, but I feel like stores might as well round it at 99.99, that's kinda lame, recent games like Cards Against Humanity allowed table games to sell more outside of little kids, but I don't think anyone would be ready to pay that price for something like that, I agree with MaybeTowelie, 50 to 75 bucks would be slightly more "affordable".

Otherwise, having seen the tracklist and the trailer, I for one think this concept is pretty cool since it appeals to people who listen to MUSIC, not only rock, pop, rap, electro or those who listen to Skrillex (OOPS). I'm actually curious to see how it all works, like the rules and stuff. And of course, being a very open person about music, I'm pretty happy that it's not one of those games with 50 or so license-free tracks with 40 of them sounding the same, but I'm also worried about something: Do you think re-licensing will apply to this game? And will that make some songs disappear after a while?
