I started drumming on a real acoustic drum set about a year ago. Having grown up on rock band and guitar hero, I find it incredibility easy to learn songs fairly accurately using rock band drum charts posted on youtube. I tried out phaseshift and while its useful, there's a limited amount songs supported.

Does anybody else find drum charts useful and applicable to real drumming? Why aren't more charts supported by phaseshift? I upgraded on to an xbox one almost 2 years ago and don't really want to reinvest in an xbox 360, so I'll probably just move on.

Yes, they're very helpful. As for Phase Shift, this is first and foremost a Rock Band 3 customs forum so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Phase Shift doesn't get widespread support here.

My progress on drums because of Rock Band is dead-ass weird:

-Yeah I learned The Hardest Button to Button, but it's hard keeping the rhythm...

Any unencrypted RB3 customs should be relatively easy to port to Phase Shift. Besides the MIDI (renamed to notes.mid) and audio (OGG format, charts with a single stereo audio file use the name guitar.ogg) all you need is the song.ini file to define metadata like the song/artist name.

I made a real drums chart for PS in the past (with open/closed hi-hat; rim shots; etc), though I never found someone to test it and my willing to make real drums chart for PS just vanished after that. The song "The Black Mages - Battle Scene" if you are interested.

And yes; most custom songs as long as they aren'T encrypted they are convertible to PS using the C3 CON Tools.

I like straight up sheet music for learning how to play a song versus Rockband. That being said, Rockband does help out from time to time.

Correction: ALL customs can be converted to Phase Shift using Phase Shift Converter in C3 CON Tools, including customs encrypted with Magma: C3 or C3 CON Tools.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try out converting a song soon. I try not to rely on charts but it's so effective a breaking down the structure and rudiments in a song.

Rock Band played a huge role in helping me learn how to play drums. I've played guitar (and a bit of bass) since I was 13-years-old, but I never got into drums until I started playing Rock Band 2 and Beatles Rock Band (I played some of the Guitar Hero games as well). Now I play drums way more often than I play guitar. I wouldn't say I'm a great drummer or anything, but I can play some fairly complex drum lines.

Download C3 CON Tools and knock yourself out. ;)

I must not be understanding something correctly, does the Phase Shift Converter function create an unencrypted stereo mix audio file or something?
