So does it work? Can I now play my xplorer on RB4? More to the point does the Stage Kit work and if so any good? Enjoying RB4 but missing my stage kit now.

Its here if unaware: http://pdp.com/en/rock-bandtm-wired-legacy-adapter

The legacy adaptor is not out yet.  Scheduled for the end of this month.  Maybe somebody tried it at a trade show?

Xplorer will apparently not work with the new adapter, and though stage kit is supported by the adapter it is not yet supported by the game.

Nice to see that MIDI and ION users will enjoy this piece.

Alex from Giant Bomb streamed for 12 hours the other day playing on his Ion kit with the adapter and it seemed to work just fine. Also, it's bullshit that there is no way to use wired instruments. My OG wired RB1 strat is still my most reliable guitar.

I just got an email from PDP that my legacy adapter has shipped.

It works fine on my ION drums, took it a few minutes to fully connect the first time.  Now all I need is a Kickwire so I can use my doublepedal setup.  If anyone has a spare, drop me a line.

Being from the UK its a expensive purchase with shipping involved, I need this for two reasons my wired guitars and my Stage Kit (another expensive import) if I can't use this for neither then I'm not only not going to buy it but I'd be very disappointed.

It actually doesn't work with wired guitars. Just the MIDI adapter/ION drums and the Stage Kit. My best guitar is an original wired RB1 guitar that has managed to outlast every other guitar, yet I can't use it with RB4 which is a bummer.

I had to use MIDI-OX to filter out all the other trash my Yamaha DTX-560 sends (just Note On messages), but now it's perfect.

I just got it (from Amazon pre-order from October) and the thing simply works.  I plugged it in, plugged in my ION controller, and I was drumming.  FINALLY!

No noticeable lag either.

I also have a Rockband KickBox (use it for the drum trigger for bass and the stock kick pedal to select categories).

One interesting thing is that the green XBOX button on the ION controller flashes constantly.

And "Throne" was harder than I expected it to be.  :)

Love this thing...

Looks like it will be tough to get in Canada. It has been taken down off Amazon.ca and PDP sites. And PDP is the one that makes it. lol  And is out of stock on Amazon.com. And on a side note. And full band kits are down on Best Buy here. And PDP wont return calls or emails trying to get free shipping on my free mic. They want 20 bucks shipping to deliver a 30 dollar mic. These were the same signs just before mad catz went belly up on rock band.

Just wanted to share my annoyances with the wired legacy adapter.  If your xbox one is set to stay in low power mode (never shutdown completely) and you either wait 12+ hours or so and turn it back on then the drums don't seem to do anything.  I have to go behind my xbox and unplug the adapter and plug it back in for it to recognize the Ions are still actually plugged in.

Also, I am unable to shutdown my xbox one using the drums in the xbox menu.  It clicks on power off but it doesn't do anything.  These issues are more with the Xbox One /firmware not necessarily RB4.

The only fix I'm seeing for the adapter is to set the xbox to not use low power mode at all.

Because it's a USB device the instruments are routed through it rather than the XB1 so when you select "turn off controller" it shuts off the adapter rather than the controller itself which really bugs me. If I have it turn off the console itself it does so without any issues so I'm guessing yours is perhaps because you use low power mode. Honestly unless you have a Kinect I don't see the point of using low power mode at all. The XB1 cold-starts fairly quickly.

This annoyance is actually on Microsoft because they decided to go for a new modified connection with the controllers. I guess a built-in converter to allow legacy controllers (not just Rock Band ones) wouldn't have been feasible but it sure would've made the Legacy Adapter nonexistent. Which I would not complain about.

My problem was the connector for the micro-USB was flimsy (both on the cord and the adapter itself) and I had to submit a ticket to MadCatz to get it replaced. They were very polite and sent a free replacement - didn't need to send the old one in which was nice.

I've looked everywhere online for one of the  PDP  Ion adapters , none to be found.

I actually did run across one on E bay seller wants $300 for it !  No thank you, I don't need it that badly.

Do these just work for Ion drums are can they be used on any E drum kit ?

I have Ion drum rocker & Alesis DM 10 studio kit.

Was wondering if the Alesis kit would work with one if I could find it for under $300 :haw:  or they started making them again ?

Thanks in advance for any reply's.

E-Kits still need an MPA.
