My Wii is what I use to play Rock Band with customs, so I have been a little nervous about the Wii to Wii U transfer. From what I have read, I can make a nand backup, do the transfer, then restore from the backup, and I will still be able to play customs just fine (on my Wii). I was curious if anyone has tried this, and whether or not it was successful.

Here's my tip: either get a 360, or stick to the Wii. ;)

I THINK real nand customs will be fine. Though emulated nands probably won't work.

I did the transfer yesterday, it went okay.

Here's what I learned:

- if you have bootmii installed as boot2, make a nand backup, do the transfer, restore from the backup, and everything will be back to before the transfer

- if you have bootmii installed as IOS, you cannot restore from the backup, since bootmii could write over itself and brick your Wii. I didn't know this until after I did the transfer. What I ended up doing was going into the nand backup on my computer, pulling out the rock band 3 save data, putting it on my SD card, and using WiiXplorer to manually copy it onto the Wii. Now my rock band save file is back, and I can still play customs, and all my virtual console games are on my Wii U.
