"Allentown" is now full-band.  Still expert-only, still no actual 5-lane keys, the usual WIP disclaimers.

I may knock a unison bonus or two out of this one before I'm done with it, because right now it is very easy to gold-star, especially on guitar and bass

Awesome.

Out in Princeton we're saying "shucks".

Waiting patiently.

 For the redux.

I just downloaded "Witchy Woman" and the metadata for the artist is not the same as other files by "The Eagles" that I have. Some C3, some forum. You have just "Eagles"

Also the first post link to "Witchy Woman" is still the previous version.

Good work on these.

Ah yes, "The" eternal debate.  If you look at the band's releases, they have never called themselves "The Eagles".  All their albums and singles are credited simply to "Eagles", with a few outlying exceptions in countries where the band was probably not directly involved in the release.  There actually are several bands that don't officially use "The" in their title despite everyone else doing so, Scorpions being another one.  Others have gone back and forth like (The) Steve Miller Band, and then there are some that really can't make up their collective minds, like The Pretenders, so-named on their debut album which they then called Pretenders.  Using the names "chosen by the artists themselves" can get pretty difficult in some cases when you actually try!  For this particular band, though, they were pretty consistent, and they were Eagles without a The.

But...

I can be persuaded to add a "The" for the sake of consistent sorting if pretty much every other custom, including the GH converts in the C3 database, have the "The".

D'oh.  Fixed!  I guess MediaFire actually does change that cryptic string of letters and numbers now and then.  I'll keep a closer eye on that from now on.

Good work on these.

Thank you!

Speaking of metadata...

If you change 'Emerson, Lake and Palmer' to 'Emerson Lake & Palmer', it will not only match the album cover, it will also remove the annoying overlap in the Visualizer image.

Yeah, you're right.  This is where I must confess personal preference got in the way.  I hate arbitrary ampersands. :)  But, I'll be a good boy and put the ampersand back in the next revision.

Whether the comma should go is a little less clear.  Almost all album covers don't have the comma (Black Moon is an exception), and almost all record labels do have the comma (Works is an exception).  But, if we assume the band was more involved in how their album covers look and less involved in the design of the labels, and if we want to use the name that best represents the band's golden era, then the comma would get the boot.  I'm fine with that.

That HIM vs. H.I.M. thing with Harmonix's songs is getting a little more understandable now, isn't it? :)

The nitpicking squad. :hocuspocus:

I fight fire with fire. :)

Hey Fuji,

I just wanted to chime in with a few words of thanks and encouragement for your continued work on these songs. This is without a doubt my most anticipated release at the moment :)

I also wanted to offer a BIG thank you for the addition of "Heartache Tonight"! Going back to the beginning of this thread, that was my number two pick and I'm VERY happy to see it turn up...

THANKS!!!

"Spooky" is now full-band, with the usual WIP disclaimers. Guitarists, you get three solos and lots of Skittles, especially in the second solo!

Now for the bad news...

I regret I'm going to have to break my promise to get the first seven WIPs completed before Halloween. I've been juggling a lot, and a commitment that was going to wrap up this weekend looks like it's going to be pushed out 'til next weekend, thanks to that big ol' hurricane threatening to drown Texas in the next couple of days.

However, I'm still going to push to get done what I can before next Friday. If I'm lucky, all five songs that are currently full-band will be polished at least to the point of having 5-lane keys and full reductions. If I'm not so lucky, I'll give priority to "Witchy Woman" and "Spooky" so that at least the Halloween songs are ready for Halloween. Whatever is left over will of course be the focus of my attention after Halloween, and that includes "Boat on the River" and "Heard It in a Love Song".

In the meantime, I hope ya like what's here now!

Thanks again for all your hard work on these songs. If they are out by Halloween, great.....but if not, you don't need to apologize for anything. The work you have done on these is incredible and don't worry about meeting any deadline. They will be done whenever they are done and we will all love them! :)

I've posted an update to "Spooky" in case I don't get back to it before Saturday. 5-lane keys have been added, and guitar and bass are now fully reduced and playable at all difficulties. All other instruments (including 5-lane keys) are still expert-only. I still hope to get this one completely finished in time for Halloween, but this ought to be good enough for any All-Hallows'-Eve Eve Rock Band plans.

So you'll see over in my release thread that the two Billy Joel tracks are ready to go. It isn't quite Halloween, and the remaining tracks probably won't be finished quite this year, but rest assured I'm still working on them.

In the meantime, I've moved all my current WIPs to the first post, so you can see what's still in the pipe. Once I finish a long-overdue contribution to the Beatles Discography Project, I'll be back on these again.

To everyone who has been waiting patiently for the two songs still in the queue, I promise I haven't forgotten them, nor abandoned them. Time for customs work, and even time for Rock Band play, has been very scarce lately. First I had a bit of a health scare a couple of months back, which thankfully turned out to be nothing. Then, as that was clearing up, something even weirder happened. I got put on a project at work I actually enjoyed and was motivated to work on! Of course I always made sure I did my job before, but now it was to the point where I didn't have much mental capacity to do anything else at the end of the day!

Despite all the drama and fun, I am still stealing little scraps of time here and there for Rock Band and customs, and this evening I finally finished the expert guitar track for "Heard It in a Love Song". As a favor to those who have been waiting very patiently, I plan on finishing expert bass and expert 5-lane keys and then releasing a new WIP before I start work on reductions. Since the bass is very simple and I already have a pro keys chart, these charts should fall into place more quickly than the guitar chart.

"Heartache Tonight" is still warm on the to-do list as well, so stay tuned!

(cough)...

(WIP link removed. "Heard It in a Love Song" is now done! Find it here.)

There's still a ways to go. There aren't enough energy phrases, making gold stars on anything but vocals pretty much impossible. Guitar and bass were tested, and I'm pretty sure I didn't break drums or pro keys since the last go 'round, but 5-lane keys is untested so I make no guarantees there. I plan on playing with the guitar and bass animations at least a little more, I'm thinking about bumping up the guitar difficulty rating, and of course, those pesky reductions. But I've made y'all wait long enough, so here's something in case I'm hit by that proverbial bus. Critiques are welcome, especially now while it's still officially in the to-do pile.

The latest FujiSkunk WIP news: I'm tweaking my customs workflow a bit with the goal of touching more songs and keeping myself motivated to work on them. The immediate bad news is, this means "Heartache Tonight" likely won't be finished as quickly as it could be. The good news is, I will keep that one active until it's complete, and by the time it's done, I should have a few other projects in the pipe. Each new project could be a song I start from scratch, or it could an offer to collaborate. We'll just have to see where the chips fall. People interested in tracking my progress can do so with this Google Sheet.

I plan on posting WIP's here as they become fully playable at least for some players if not the whole band. I think that will mean either when vocals and harmonies and/or at least two instruments are done, with reductions. To that end, here is my latest work on "Heartache Tonight", with bass and drums given some additional polish and fully reduced for all skill levels:

(Edit: "Heartache Tonight" is now complete! Find it here!)

I suspect I'll be touching songs that won't reach full-band status before I'm done with them. For those songs or any other, offers to collaborate are welcome!

Cross your fingers that my next update will be soon!

"The best laid plans of skunks and men..."

So my efforts to get more custom work flowing along has just about amounted to a whole hill of nothing. Between more health drama, lots of other distractions and recently starting a new job, my Rock Band time has been sadly lacking, to say nothing of actually making customs for Rock Band.

But, these past few months haven't left me completely empty handed...

For someone who claims to be a big fan of the Project, you'd think I'd have several songs from them ready to go by now. That is one of the many goals for customs I have, but in the meantime, here is my first APP custom... or at least here will be the first. Bass, drums, keys and pro keys are all ready to go, with full difficulty reductions. Guitar and vocals are still in the queue. Tests and critiques are welcome, even while this one's still a WiP.

As it turns out I've been toying with a few other RB-related things, and I think I'm going to focus on one of them before I work on the remaining bits for "Limelight". The bad news is this will remain a WiP for a little while longer, but the good news is, I think a lot of people will like the other things I'm working on, and some of them should be ready fairly soon. No promises, but keep your fingers crossed!
