C3 rejuvenated my love for the game, and helped it reassert itself as the primary multiplayer game in my circle of friends. I'll always be thankful for that.

I would say they have. I play quite a lot, but now I have new songs.
I tried my hand at creating, but couldn't get the handle of it.
Now I just wait and see what gets released.
Keep it up.

Put plainly my life is crap, I use Rock Band as a coping mechanism, Life just seems more worth living knowing there will be more great old and new songs to play on every friday, I have not given up un Harmonix or rock band as since i have begin using CCC as a song source i have still been buying rb3 songs to the tune of 600$ worth or more, still buy more every friday! I currently cant afford the current gen/instruments needed,RB4 game, but i will get it when i can, i heard there will be no online band capability in RB4, as i have noone local to play with i guess i will be doomed to play with myself.
So You can say CCC has kept me wanting to live and interested in a game that Aint dead yet! :excited:

I will miss CCC, and always remember their part in making my life better!

Rock on and Prosper!

Hello all.

I was about to type out a long, boring story about when I first played RB and how awesome it was but we all know this. I've loved these games since I first played one and found it so, so difficult to get used to. But then it clicked and I've never looked back.

RB3 and Rock Band: Beatles were so important to me. The latter in particular because my wife is a huge Beatles fan (as am I) and she was genuinely hype to sing all these songs that we both love in the game and so she greenlit us getting the band in a box set. I can't sing for toffee and am more than happy to play bass. And bass is all I play in RB3 too. I love bass. Love it.

And truthfully I've gone all these years just playing bass on all the great songs in game (RB1, RB2 and RB3) and some of the great DLC (REM, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Hendrix, etc) and absolutely loving it.

And then I found out about customs. And holy shit - the fun really started then. And I really mean fun.

So, yeah, C3 hasn't really kept the experience alive because I've still got official DLC to buy that I really want to play (and I will, absolutely, continue to buy that DLC - 'Ten' album pack is next) but it's just multiplied the fun to the nth degree. Pink Floyd? Chris Isaak? Temple of the Dog? MADONNA? Hell. Yes. Please.

I genuinely from the bottom of my heart appreciate the time, effort and skill all you authors put into doing this. The fact you're all doing it for the love of music really shines through. The variety is the key for me. And even though I will buy RB4 because I want to support HMX and Mad Catz for making all this possible, I really, really hope that C3 and other authors that I'm yet to discover continue to produce customs because I can see myself playing this game for many years to come.

Thanks very much. Cheers.

it really has kept playing alive,in fact another good question is how will get customs to rock band 4 ? because i wonder if rock band network songs will go to rock band 4 then in theory shouldn't the customs work too ? because the customs work of the network code am i right ?

well why not? if all our official content will work, rock band network songs are considered official content. We don't even know for sure how we will port all of our offical songs to RB4. theres only two ways download digitally or port physically most likely download, but theyre building a virtual 360 for backwards compatibility games, our peripherals will work, our official content will work, so who's to say one day our customs won't work ? after all wouldn't it be awesome if the customs could work in RB4.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. And that's why they're not going to work.

We do, the game will automatically download the files on the new platform. There is no "porting", you will be able to download RB4 files for songs you already own.

I kinda lost you at the virtual 360 but of course nobody knows for sure that customs will never work on RB4. We know that currently to load songs in Rock Band 3 we need 3 steps (create the correct file structure, manipulate Xbox 360 files, exploit an accidental backdoor in the game) and we know for sure that currently Xbox One files can't be manipulated and it's safe to assume there will be no backdoor, which was closed anyway with TU5.

No, you do your own research. It's been discussed at length. Not to mention that you're telling one of the people who was there when customs were discovered and knows intimately how customs are made and how they work that he doesn't know and you imply you know more. The burden here is on you.

yet we don't know the back door yet. the xbox one isn't going to be unhackable indefinitely every company that says their machines are un hackable have eaten their words, at some point someone will figure it out just not yet. i was trying to say with all the compatibility changes its opening the gate more and more. Who's to say we couldn't run rock band 3 on the xbox one(assuming it will be on the compatibility list) off line and use custom songs ? i mean for those who do the game digitally it would have pre installed TU5 but locally on disc would it load disc version which could be older or just use disc as license and download a TU5 version of the game ?

the burden here isn't on me dude, you've had a bee in your bonnet since i said something. I'm not saying i know better than someone who knows them inside and out so get off your moral high ground. I'm just asking questions if you have got a problem with that then tough tits.

Actually when I have a problem, it's kind a of a problem for you.

But you're not asking questions. Asking a question is saying "is it raining outside"? You're arguing with the weather person as to why it's likely it's going to rain after being told it won't. You're making asinine jumps to conclusions that are, plainly put, uneducated.

Backwards compatibility doesn't work and will not work like what you want it to. It's software emulation. Harmonix has no interest in making it happen, and Microsoft already said games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero will not have backwards compatibility. Even if, in a rare case, they would, then it would be and only be a digital version of the game...with TU5. I don't even know why in the hell you think that using the "disc as license and download a TU5 version of the game" would allow customs to work, but that just shows how you have no idea what you're talking about.

In short, if I have "a bee in your bonnet" - it's because you're making an ass of yourself and I have no temper for people like you. Either catch on to that fact really quickly, or you're going to have a shitty time.

Chill dude, first off you didn't read what i said, i said if rb3 works through the backwards comp and say hypothetically if you used your EA disc on xbone would it load from the disc or would the disc only be used as a license and it download the game digitally with tu5 like an xbone game would do....... perfectly valid question don't you think ?. Secondly i didn't know they weren't going to be on the compatibility list and didn't get the memo, so forget what i said. Thirdly i don't know what i'm talking about thats why i'm asking so don't be such snob because I'm not wired up every single day like some. Fourthly theres no need for rudeness and you don't need to get personal, if you can't discuss things calmly then maybe you should do something else other than sat looking at this forum if you get that cranky at someone asking questions differently from the way you would.

First of all, compatibility for RB3 on the XBox One is a no, HMX already declined (they want to push Rock Band 4, not let people use RB3 on the new consoles). Of course it's possible that we find some backdoor or ways to use customs but that is not what you said originally and what we replied to: you said that customs use the RBN framework, hence they should work. The answer to that is 100% no. If customs ever make their way to the Xbox One is not because of RBN or their format, it's because we find new ways to use them and in that regard right now there is no indication we will. Can it happen? Sure. Will it? I don't know.

first off i didn't know that so forget that, secondly I'm not trying to sound like i know more than you guys what ever anyone thinks and thats what i wanted to know because i thought customs use RBN frame work, like customs came about because RBN software was reverse engineered if i got that right?, unless your saying RBN wont work on RB4 ? which i don't know either. Thirdly thank you for explaining it to a pleb like me. Fourthly i hope like you that very much it will one day.

May I ask that we go back to the "one post per user" format, if this conversation has satisfied all participants? :) It's easier for us to keep track of what our community thinks through this thread. ;)

Without this, I probably would have completely stopped playing. Was down to once a month. Now back to 2-3 times a week. Not everyday, as I have many interests, but definitely a significant up tick.

Thank all of you for that.
