I guess I'm one of the only few. I'm afraid they will release alot of tracks that users here have already done and are playable on Xbox 360/PS3.

I think so.

Most of us here are hardcore fans, so it stands to reason most people here will be excited.
Even if 100% of the RB4 setlist is available as customs already, so what? There's more to the game than the songs - the new gameplay, improved graphics, hopefully improved online play, tour or story mode, etc.

I sure am looking forward to it.

I couldn't give a rats ass about it honestly. Removing Keys and making it PS4/Xbone only made it a deal breaker, and the awful quality of the DLC they released before the announcement didn't look very tempting either

If you're excited, good for you, but I doubt the OP is the only one not feeling exactly won over yet

I was pretty excited for RB4 until they said no keys or pro guitar. I have an Ion drum kit, but I don't even know if I should get my hopes up that they'll allow that to work without replacing the brain.

Many AAA games are starting to go XB1/PS4 only now so it's no surprise with RB4. HMX isn't going to waste time on "dumbed down" versions of RB4 for Xbox 360 and PS3 because most people will upgrade in the near future anyway and above all, it costs Harmonix more money and resources which they do not have since they are now basically an indie developer.

I never said it was a surprise, I said it was a deal breaker for me personally as I have no desire getting either a PS4 or Xbone because literally no other games on them are even remotely interesting to me and I already bought a Wii U and I am not rich so I can't buy everything

I'm not going to start a console war, specially since I own all the current gen consoles, but I really hope that is hyperbole. Considering that you're talking 2/3 of the current gen consoles, and probably a larger percentage of the current games, I find it hard to believe that as you say, no game on either console is even remotely interesting to you. That narrows you down to a very select few games from Nintendo only.
Even I that never was into Playstation, got a PS4 for The Last of Us and Little Big Planet 3. There's literally hundreds (thousands?) of games for Playstation 4 and Xbox One ... I find it hard to believe that you're not exaggerating with your statement.

I can understand the "can't afford it" argument. That is just unfortunate for all in that situation. But think of it like this: you can't afford a current gen system...Harmonix can't afford to release for previous gen systems :P

I already own Last of Us and LBP3 for Playstation 3, I am not gonna spend a fuckton of money for some graphical updates for games I barely play to begin with. And no I really don't like a lot of games these days, I am more of a fan of older games but Rock Band is an exception because of it speaking to me as a musician and I wasn't a fan of the Wii but I think the Wii U is closer to the Gamecube in terms of game feel and all that jazz which is why I am enjoying it

Also, comparing someone on wellfare to a corporate company with several well selling franchises? Now that's pretty hyperbolic if anything

Yes. And so is comparing your entry cost to a current gen ($350?) vs. the cost to Harmonix to support previous gens (I assume you would, to be fair, want support for not only your PS3 but also Xbox 360 and Wii, right?).
Considering the old systems use a completely different architecture, and of course have a lot less power, both the code and the features would have to be redone to a large degree. I wouldn't be surprised if the costs of supporting prior gen would be somewhere between $500K to $1Million, if not more. And then you would end up with a gimped version of RB4 and an uncertain amount of purchases for Harmonix because, by and large, people have moved on to the current gen systems.

I'm also on the side of no last-gen ports = no purchase. I am not getting an Xbox One just for one game, and if I had my preferences I'd rather have a PS4 anyway, and that would mean my Xbox 360 DLC would not port over. I am completely understanding why there's no last-gen ports, or why Xbox 360 DLC won't go onto PS4, or PS3 onto Xbox One (anyone with any knowledge of console wars should be able to guess), but that doesn't mean that I am willing to make such a big investiment over one game, especially when it would mean losing all of my DLC on the current game, and I can't even dream of making that investiment at the moment.

Of course, there's also the dropped features, and the fact that DLC lately has been so poorly charted that I can't help but feel discouraged, but both of those things have been discussed to death, and I'd rather not start another shitstorm like on the RB forums, so I'mma just leave it at that. Essentially, I don't have the money, and at least at the current moment I am not at all interested in the game, with present knowledge of it.

I'll let you know when it comes out in June. I have high hopes for it since Rocksteady is making it and all the previews and gameplay videos look nothing short of amazing.

I am not a idiot, I understand why, but I don't have to like why nor do I have to tolerate or participate in a culture of sheepish consumption of media without regard for if it's actually enjoyable for me as a individual or not. I don't care if Assassin's Creed is super popular, I still think the games are shit after trying them out and I am not gonna play them because they are not entertaining to me.

At the same time, I am trying again and again to stress that this is just how I feel, the OP was specifically wondering "is there anybody else who feels like this" which, yes, there is and that is what I wanted to convey. I am not trying to tell you that you or anybody else are not allowed to be excited for RB4, I am not saying I am puzzled by HMX dropping last gen support, I am saying I am specifically not interested in RB4 because of the lack of a last gen port and missing features, and if I am not allowed to have that opinion then we might as well all go back to High School, because this attitude of the popular opinion being the "right" one is juvenile at best

Now please, for the love of god, stop trying to twist everything I say into a personal attack just because I don't like the same things you like. I am not here to take your Xbox away even if I don't plan to buy one myself

Without Pro Keys, I have zero interest in next-gen Rock Band. Sad but true.
I chart multitrack customs! Download them here.

I got nothing else to say to that other than after two years on these forums, I've learned from some of the best people at taking what others say and turning it into personal attacks.

You know...they clearly said this is a platform and they have long term plans for it. They've also said that if there's enough demand for things, that they might bring them back or bring them in. With that in mind, you're not helping keys return by NOT buying RB4. Instead, you should buy RB4, play it so they see the usage, and continue to voice your opinion on their forums.

Actions speak louder than words. "Harmonix I bought RB4, and I'm ready to pay for DLC that adds Keys support" is a whole different message to them than "I'm not buying RB4 until and unless you add Keys support." If that makes sense.

Since you're so learned, perhaps you should chart this?

I also remember hearing something along the lines of "if you have to resort to profanity, you've already lost the argument."

But hey, let's get back on topic. I'm not that excited that Rock Band 4 is coming out when it is. I need it earlier. I need at least two months of playing time before November, damn it.

I'm excited about Rock Band 4. I still don't have an Xbox One, but I will purchase one for RB4. Since I *MUCH* prefer multi-tracks over mp3s due to the core gameplay immersion factor of having the instrument cut out when you miss a note, it doesn't matter to me if the entire on-disc setlist is already available here as customs, I will love the multi-track treatment for them!

And I'm a pro-g/b player too. Rocksmith has been doing a good job with the IRL stuff so HMX getting back to core gameplay is prolly a good choice.
