Strawbs - Round and Round

kB10EyR.jpg

Strawbs (or The Strawbs) are an English rock band founded in 1964. Although the band started out as a bluegrass group they eventually moved on to other styles such as folk rock, progressive rock, and (briefly) glam rock.

After the break up of the Bursting line-up, Dave Cousins and Dave Lambert recruited a new band around them, bringing in Rod Coombes from Stealers' Wheel and Chas Cronk from sessions work. John Hawken after leaving Renaissance had played with a number of bands including Spooky Tooth, Vinegar Joe, and Third World War.

Released in the UK in early 1974, shortly after its release in North America, "Hero and Heroine" was a blueprint for things to come - bleak, harsh lyrics reflecting Cousins current state of mind, increasingly electronic/progressive instrumentation and a concentration on the North American/Canadian market, where it sold hugely well, rather than the UK homeland.

They toured with Supertramp in their "Crime of the Century" tour, doing their own "Hero and Heroine" tour, which drew musical similarities and themes.

Thanks for the compliment, yes I did have a small part in this but the real credit should go to Dash & to Oscarj08 for their work in making this.

This is true. Though Pictures of Home and Lazy are missing Pro Keys.

Hhhmmm...

I've got a decent MIDI for Lazy, but the tempo map during the intro is all over the place. It would be next to impossible to incorporate the former with the later without major surgery. A new map may prove to be easier.

Probably just as well. Trying to fit those keys (six octaves w/gliss, four w/o) into two octaves would be a considerable challenge, and likely not do them justice.

Peter Gabriel's first four solo albums all shared the same name. This is not a problem at the moment, but eventually, it will be. In order to accommodate future releases, I've adopted the popular nomenclature for these albums.

  1. Peter Gabriel (Cars)
  2. Peter Gabriel (Scratch)
  3. Peter Gabriel (Melt)
  4. Peter Gabriel (Security)

Metadata Updated:

Peter Gabriel - Moribund the Burgermeister

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill

Changed album name from Peter Gabriel I to Peter Gabriel (Car).
