Bsbloom Customs - Update: 9/26/20 Soul Sacrifice

Recommended Posts

I've returned to my roots this month, with guitar-heavy instrumentals, and two classics.

First up, per request,

Next, two more from Alejandro Silva, off his first album. Little by little, I hope to chart all of this album, here are the first two tracks.

You can preview both songs, together, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39G74RxNSyU

Next up, two songs from Dark Moor's Beyond the Sea album:

Vivaldi's Winter is the short version - frankly, I didn't even know there was a long version until I loaded the audio into reaper, and discovered that, two full minutes after the song seems to end, there is another piano section.

You can see this for yourself in the youtube preview. The song appears to end at 3:37. There is nothing but silence until 5:40, when the piano returns, for a short, but sweet solo.

I'm all for artistic intent and all of that, but seriously, two full minutes of dead air? No thanks. So, I cut off the song at the 3:37 mark. Anyway, my guess, this is really a separate song, thrown in as an Easter egg for their avid fans. If I ever chart it, which is doubtful, I'll treat it as an independent song.

Speaking of sweet piano solos, Miracles, my favorite song off that album, ends with a great one, and you don't have to wade through endless nothing to get there. Miracles is great fun on every instrument, and that one has gotten a lot of playing time on my xbox.

Finally, two absolutely fantastic classics, for the Medicare crowd (like me):

From 1976, the amazing ballad,

and, from the 1981 Oscar-winning movie, the title song,

Chariots is joint work with Tails4eva, the others are solo ventures. Thank you, Tails, for reminding me of this incredible tune.

If you don't know these last two classics, check them out. Both deserve a prominent place in anyone's library.

Four customs for May. Three of these are true classics, and by artists who have been completely ignored by Rock Band. No more! The fourth song is pretty obscure, and from an album that no one ever bought, but it is a real masterpiece.

First up, someone suggested that James Bond Themes might fit well here. I agree, and so ...

Shirley Bassey did several of the Bond themes, with this her best. She had an incredible voice, but I don't know much about her work.

For the few out there who haven't heard this song, here is a preview:

I can't believe that Tina Turner has almost never appeared before in C3. How can that be? WE NEED MORE TINA!

I have added, to my To Do List: Private Dancer, River Deep, and We Don't Need Another Hero.

If anyone has plans for these, or wants to collaborate, let me know.

Moving away from Bond ... James Bond,

This, of course, was another One-Hit-Wonder band, but, surely, this one has to be in your library. What a great song.

Finally, a joint work with AJFONE23. We started this before Prince's death, so it appears now with a real sad element to it.

This is a strange album - some amazing guitarists took a few old classics and redid them in a Guitar Battle format. The album sold moderately well in Japan, but nowhere else. Most of the tracks are forgettable, but this one ... amazing. Now, if only we had a custom of the original Purple Rain. Yes, thanks to Nunchuck, we'll have that soon too.

If you don't know this instrumental, give it a listen. It really is outstanding.

Finally, thanks to AJFONE, Ghost Riders has been updated. Check the database.

I have never heard that Head East song. Nice.

Song still gets a lot of radio play around here (Albany, NY). I heard it again a few weeks ago, and couldn't stop humming it. I figured someone must have charted it, but couldn't find it anywhere, not even on FOF.

Anyway, who can resist a song that calls a woman "better than a white line"? True 70's.

Pretty surprising that no one's done the Head East song before. Nice job!

Not sure who did them originally, but I have the two Bond songs already. And I got them from this site. Was a while ago.

I wouldn't say Bassey did "several" Bond themes. She did two.

The only album I have is this 50 Years of James Bond Themes. Bassey is listed, on that, with three songs, Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, and Moonraker. Good songs, all.

Too bad if these were done before - I hate to redo someone else's work. If you can find out who did them, let's at least give some credit here.

Speaking of Purple Rain.....as I'm doing one little thing this summer (I'm mostly following my pursuits in my majors....because I like doing it).

The one album that is being worked on right now is:

Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain (full album)

I'd add a screenshot of some of the progress I'm doing, but currently I've tempo-mapped portions of all songs, started charting the hard parts (namely guitar solos.....Prince could be messy), placing most of the drum charts (which are repetitive for the most part), and putting some of the vocals.

EDIT: Nevermind. I'll just wait until I see what is left after Nunchuck's release.

Send Nunchuck a message. Lots of authors are on board for his Prince release. My guess - he'd love to have the full album done, and someone there would love your help.

I took three stabs at The Purple Rain, but gave up each time. It is really tough to chart. More power to you (and Nunchuck).
