Welcome to the Audio Cleaning Project thread. These songs are provided as a base for people looking to make conversions to Rock Band 3 (and other music game engines) for both private use and forum and/or C3 release. (As well as the FoF and Phase shift communities, respectively.)
**Please see the forum rules about Con distribution and which songs are for private use only.

Most of these are from music related video games, ripped down to the lowest stems each game provides. Most are sourced from Xbox 360, while a few are from Wii, DS, or PS3. All songs from the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series are remastered and remixed by hand and ear from 48khz recordings. **A 'Haas' effect is applied to DS audio to give the mono recordings a stereo presence.

The equipment I use:
ADC 12-Band Stereo Frequency Equalizer model SS-2 Mark II
A 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) Cable Output and Input
Audacity 2.0.5 with Cockos Plugins

These songs are offered with the sole purpose of allowing the C3 (and their forum community)/FoF/Phase Shift communities to make conversions of songs, and are altered (by myself) to offer a cleaner sound than is usually found in the game of origin.

Special thanks goes out to Bluzer for his superior rips, and serving as the inspiration behind this project. Special thanks also goes out to forum members Spindoctor6969 and Nunchuck for their kind words and use of these tracks in their releases.

I'm hosting these songs I've gone over with light cleaning and balancing, hoping one day they get picked up for charting by authors.

How come you record dryvox for songs that are in the C3 database? Don't they have lipsync already?

I think most of the dryvox issues are caused by the lipsync generation being rather... imperfect, let's say. New dryvox may not even make much of a difference with that, sadly.

Remember that dryvox doesn't affect just animation but scoring too, so messing with it is not ideal.

Ah, now that I was not aware of. Perhaps for any of the C3 release dryvox I make, it would be better if I provided the project file or dta by giving it an alternate song ID? That way it won't affect the regular release scores. I did this for the testing and all four showed up as separate songs without affecting the others. :)

It's not a huge deal, it's just something I mention because not many people know that and if you work on dry vox files it's worth knowing it. Essentially, the less accurate the dry vox is, the looser the scoring window is.

"Back in those days, we didn't have these fancy DLCs or Exports. When you wanted to play a different song, you popped in another disc! We had cover versions of songs, with Fake Steven Tyler muting your instruments to sing louder than your playing, and by golly we were happy to play our guitar only stem!"

I was expecting the Heart tracks to be multi tracks or karaoke versions. How do these differ from a CD version?

Sorry if I'm being dumb!
