Great Big Sea was a Canadian folk rock band from Newfoundland and Labrador, best known for performing energetic rock interpretations of traditional Newfoundland folk songs including sea shanties, which draw from the island's 500-year-old Irish, Scottish, and Cornish heritage.
 
"When I'm Up (I Can't Get Down)" is a song written by English folk rock group Oysterband. It was released in May 1997 as the lead single from Great Big Sea's Play. It peaked at No. 13 on the Canadian RPM adult contemporary chart and at No. 6 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles, making it their highest peaking song on the Top Singles chart.

Upon reflection, it turns out the harmonies in this are pretty messed up. Right key, wrong notes. :(

 

I believe this has been fixed will be better in the full band version, coming soon... available now.  :)

Got to see these guys live back in their heyday. Great show. Thanks for this -- love to see more someday if you're so inclined. Mari Mac would be insane on vox, for example.

Thanks so much! GBS was my favourite band through my mid teens.  I never thought I'd see their stuff in the game, so this is amazing.
