Not exactly a masterpiece.  This Monkee's song is fairly trite - basic storyline:  Girl next store grows up, and now she's hot.

However, the drum work is fun, and the guitar solos, written and performed by the session musician Louie Shelton, are outstanding.

In my early days, when I played a real guitar, I tried to learn these solos, but could never master them.  Now, I can almost keep up on the plastic guitar.

This is one of my favorite Monkees songs and underrated IMO. The lyrics are straightforward, yes, but even with the shortness in length of the song you can hear them pull back influences from the 50s and then move to where they currently were in the 60s, with the Beatles influences in there as well. But still able to keep it all Monkees. This is one of the few songs I remember being able to track so well exactly where it came from and exactly where it was going.

To add depth to the lyrics; yes, she maybe turned hot, but "looking different than before" could mean he views her differently now that they're adults, and might not solely be about looks.

Thanks so much for this! A wonderful treat.
