A few words from mortarion42:
If there could be one name for Canadian maritime folk music, it would be Stan Rogers. His unforgettable, booming baritone voice defined Canadian maritime life and Canadiana music in general. Born in Hamilton in 1949, his family originally hailed from Nova Scotia, and Rogers spent many summers out east. Eventually, Rogers would become known for his wide range of songs about Canadian life, including topics such as farming the prairies, fishing the grand banks, and the wild exploration of the endless north and western Canada. While not as best-selling as Leonard Cohen or Neil Young, Stan Rogers' contributions to Canadian music and culture cannot be understated.
