Author Notes

Part of Onyxite's Jazz Pack 3.

Early in my exploration of jazz and fusion (still ongoing!) I came to the conclusion that "fusion" referred to very different things in the 70s and 80s. While the original "fusion" referred to Miles Davis acolytes going off and starting groups that merged jazz composition with (progressive) rock, 80s fusion mostly sounded like the cheesiest of stereotypical 80s music, of which I am not really a fan. So I was surprised to find this diamond in the rough from Corea's work in those years. (The rest of the album is firmly in the aforementioned cheese category.)

Live, it is usually performed with a guitarist and saxophonist, but here on the album it's just the core keys/bass/drums trio. The keys part is clearly written to be played live on keytar, which resulted in a very nice Pro Keys chart with no left hand part to leave out, and minimal wrapping.

Includes open notes in a few places on bass in the Phase Shift + Clone Hero version.

[2019 May 9] v2
- Added Pro Bass (6 string), see video in comments

Oh yes! Great song, need to practice more to play this, haha.. Thanx :-)
Did you ever come across the fusion style of Allan Holdsworth? For instance a song like Looking Glass, check out his music, it's definitely not cheesy!
